Position: Box Office Clerk
Type: Part-time (Days, evenings and weekends)
Start Date: Immediately
Rate of Pay: $11.75 per hr
Reports To: Managing Director
SUMMARY
The Box Office Clerk is responsible for selling tickets, subscription packages, registrations for workshops/ classes/ camps, artwork and other items offered for sale by the Ottawa Little Theatre. The position also works some shifts in the cloakroom assisting customers with hanging coats, signing our hearing assist devices, and controlling access to the backstage areas of the theatre.
This position reports to the Managing Director, OLT.
GENERAL DUTIES
1 – Provide the primary reception for the theatre, welcome patrons and visitors, sell tickets and provide information to the public on a variety of theatre productions and other OLT activities.
2 – Process cash, credit and debit card payments by phone and in person
3 – Reconcile and report sales and payments
4 – Provide cloakroom services including hanging coats, testing and issuing hearing assist devices, and ensuring only volunteers have backstage access.
5 – Maintain a clean, orderly and welcoming workspace
6 – Adhere to OLT policies and guidelines and assist the Managing Director in achieving the goals and objectives of the OLT
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Exemplary customer service, verbal and communication skills
- Proficiency with computers and/or automated ticketing systems. Must have experience working with a database. Experience with Theatre Manager is an asset.
- Cash handling and payment processing procedures
- Capacity to prioritize, delegate and adapt to changing demands
- Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs
- Experience working within the performing arts industry is an asset
- Self-motivated team player with high energy and ability to work independently
