OLT‘s February production of Dead Accounts was a big winner at the EODL Awards Brunch on April 8 in Cobourg ON! As the recipient of the Leslie M. Frost Award for Best Production, Dead Accounts directed by Geoff Gruson, will be off to represent the Ottawa Little Theatre at the Theatre Ontario Festival in May. In addition, Venetia Lawless won the Leonard Beaulne Memorial Trophy for Best Actress in a Major Role; Tom Pidgeon won the Peterborough Theatre Guild Award for Set Design; and the production won the Brenda & Chris Worsnop Award for Outstanding Ensemble. Dead Accounts also received nominations for Phillip Merriman as Best Actor in a Major Role; Jane Morris and Josh Sparks for both Best Use of Speech, and for Acting Excellence; and Venetia and Phillip for the Adjudicator “Inseparables” Award for their convincing portrayal of siblings. The EODL (Eastern Ontario Drama League) Festival was adjudicated by Bea Quarrie.
The Theatre Ontario Festival is hosted this year by the London Community Players in London ON, and will run from May 16 to 20 featuring the winners of all four Ontario regional festivals.
