Hon. Kenneth C. Binks, Q. C.
1925-2018

The OLT is saddened to learn of the death at age 93 of Mr. Justice Kenneth Binks, a key player in the rebirth of the Ottawa Little Theatre after the fire of 1970 that destroyed the original building. Ken was inducted into the OLT Cornerstone in 2016 for his extraordinary contributions over 50 years.

A great supporter of the arts and an active member of the Ottawa Little Theatre Board of Directors at the time of the devastating 1970 fire, Ken Binks was appointed Chair of the Fundraising Committee that was immediately formed to re-build the theatre. He led the very successful campaign with great expertise and passion and was personally responsible for raising a notable amount of funds. As such, his role was important in achieving the construction of the current building which opened a mere two years later in 1972, and was fully paid off after only another five years.

Ken remained a respected Board member for many years afterwards. His significant financial contributions to the theatre continued to the present, most recently in honour of his late wife, Jean, who shared his love for this theatre.

This >>obituary<< provides additional details about Ken’s life and illustrious legal career. The OLT sends condolences to his many friends and family.

The OLT and the theatre community in Ottawa feel a tremendous loss from a great person.
