Synopsis:
Bonnie and Brad are having a Stag and Doe to raise money for their upcoming wedding — the cost of which has secretly gotten out of control. Their wisecracking Maid of Honour, Dee is still getting over being left at the altar seven years ago — and now has to come face to face with the guy who did it. Bridezilla Mandy and her doting groom Rob are getting married today — even though their big white tent blew away in last night’s storm. And oh yeah — single dad Jay just found out his entire catering staff is in jail! It’s all happening at the same time, in the same community hall, in the same small town. Taking place over one eventful Saturday in June, the two couples strike a deal to share the local reception hall for their Stag and Doe and wedding. Among the unset Jell-O shots, a missed wedding cake and a disastrous first dance, past relationships are examined, current couples are put to the test and new romance blossoms.

Setting:
Place: The kitchen of a reception hall in a small town in Southwestern Ontario. It’s the kind of all–purpose hall where you’d have your banquet, Stag and Doe, your wedding reception, and your fiftieth wedding anniversary party.
Time: Present day. A Saturday in June. The play takes place over the course of one day.

Cast of Characters:
All roles are open to any ethnicity. The ages listed reflect how the character should appear on stage, not the character’s actual age.
BONNIE “THE DOE” – FEMALE – AGE 25-35
Engaged to Brad, best friends with Dee. She’s excited about getting married, but at her wits end with planning it. With her fiance, Brad, she needs to raise some serious funds for the wedding, and the stress is getting to her.

BRAD “THE STAG” – MALE – AGE 25-35
Engaged to Bonnie. Like Bonnie, Brad is facing the very real possibility of being crushed under the weight of his wedding debt. After maxing out his credit card, he begins to have doubts when Bonnie springs the news of her $6000 wedding dress.

DEE “THE SINGLE” – FEMALE – AGE 25-35
Best friends with Bonnie, left at the altar by Rob. Loyal to Bonnie, Dee is there to help out with the miserable details of party planning. But some events in her past catch up with her.

MANDY “THE BRIDE” – FEMALE – AGE 25-35
Marrying Rob, a Bridezilla. After a lifetime of planning the perfect wedding, a few minutes of lousy weather have rained on her parade, and not even her father’s money can keep her glued together as she replans her entire wedding in a few hours.

ROB “THE GROOM” – MALE – AGE 25-35
Marrying Mandi, left Dee at the altar. Rob is pretty sure he’s ready to get married. By now, at least. But he’s reminded of his doubts when he runs into Dee, who won’t let him forget how he left her at the Altar years ago.

JAY “THE CHEF” – MALE – AGE 25-40
Single father, interested in Dee. A young caterer dealing with all the common problems, loneliness, the challenges of being a single parent, and losing his entire team to a drug bust on the day they have to prepare for a wedding.
