Clybourne Park is nominated for four Capital Critics Circle Awards, including Best Production.
Ottawa Little Theatre contributors were recognized for their outstanding work with 10 Capital Critics Circle Awards nominations today.
The most decorated production of the season is Clybourne Park. The racially-charged play by Bruce Norris is nominated for four awards including Best Community Theatre Production; Best Director, Chantale Plante; Best Actor, Lawrence Evenchik; Best Design, Robin Riddihough.
The Best Actor category is a logjam of talented OLT nominees. Evenchik is nominated for his decade-jumping portrayal of Russ and Dan in Clybourne Park. Evenchik is among elite company in the category with fellow OLT nominees Bob Hicks who had audiences in stitches as Fairchild in Sabrina Fair, Philip Merriman who portrayed the creepy-yet-charming Christopher Wren in The Mousetrap, and Shaun Toohey who held sell-out audiences in the palm of his hand for more than three hours as Alan Turing in Breaking the Code.
Not to be outdone, the ladies of OLT picked up two nominations in the best actress category. Alexandria Hodgson’s portrayal of the mischievous kid-sister Phyllis in The Railway Children earned her a nomination alongside Cheryl Jackson’s jaded Aunt Julia in Sabrina Fair.
The Railway Children is also nominated in the Technical Excellence and Design category for Graham Price’s highly inventive moving-storybook set design.
Ottawa Little Theatre is extremely proud of this year’s nominees and congratulates fellow theatre companies also celebrating nominations today.
