Nine groups competed in the 1938 inaugural edition of this local festival adjudicated by Malcolm Morley Esq. London, England:
THURSDAY, APRIL 28: "Kibitzer" (Second Act) by Jo Swerling and Edward G. Robinson, presented by the Jewish Theatre Guild; "Sanctuary", presented by the Anglican Church Festival Committee from All Saints' Church; "Pipistrelle of Aquitaine" (original play) by Munro MacLennan, presented by the Ottawa Drama League Workshop (see April 28 for cast).
FRIDAY, APRIL 29: "The Fixer" (original play) by Jack Little, presented by the Ottawa Drama League Workshop (see April 29 for cast); "Castle of Mr. Simpson" by John Kirkpatrick, presented by the United Church Festival Committee from Parkdale United Church; "Seven Keys to Baldpate" (Act One) by George M. Cohan, presented by the Ottawa University Dramatic Society.
SATURDAY, APRIL 30: "One Mad Night" (Act One), by James Reach, presented by St. Patrick's Drama Society; "Love in a Cupboard" by Dorothy Heyward, presented by the United Church Festival Committee from McKay United Church; "Nellie McNabb" by Lois Reynolds, presented by the Anglican Church Festival Committee from Christ Church Cathedral.
