This production was one of OLT's entries into the Eastern Ontario Regional Drama Festival hosted at the Little Theatre from Jan. 13 to 17 where it was performed on Jan. 15.

It won the top award, The Calvert Trophy for Best Production. Eighteen-year-old Richard Lamb won the trophy for Best Actor.

As Best Production winner, it was eligible for entry into the Dominion Drama Festival in Victoria, BC, May 4-9, 1953. Adjudicator John Allen, a BBC script writer who had travelled across the country adjudicating 54 plays, then met with the DDF executive to select eight finalists from among the 13 regional winners. "The Madwoman of Chaillot" was one of those selected and was subsequently presented on May 7, 1953, in Victoria.

At the Dominion Drama Festival, it won the Best Actress Award (Andrée Cunningham), Best Supporting Actress (Ruth Addleman) and Best Supporting Actor (Bruce Swerdfager). The final photo shows Andrée Cunningham receiving her Best Actress trophy from Vincent Massey, the Governor General .
