Recently the Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT) was presented the first annual Friends of Options Housing Award at the Options Housing annual general meeting (AGM). As president of OLT, it was an honor and privilege to accept the award from executive director Catherine Vandelinde. Our city Councillor Stéphanie Plante was also invited to the event.
Options Housing ( formerly Options Bytown) provides permanent homes for 128 adults in Ottawa who have experienced homelessness — by making rent deeply affordable and providing the on-site support our tenants need to manage day-to-day life.
Options Housing with the support of the OLT has raised over $58,000 since 2017 from our bar proceeds and from their attending our show previews.
Our past president Geoff Gruson was instrumental in developing our mutual relationship and continuing OLT’s supporting its community. In my acceptance speech, I dedicated the award to his tireless work and to his memory. Many of those in attendance were in the audience of Geoff’s final OLT performance as Ebeneezer Scrooge in our December Christmas Carol show shortly before his passing.
