There is nothing better than a nice glass of wine, an ice-cold beer or other refreshment either prior to the start of one of the OLT shows or during intermission. Our bar staff consisting of Andy, Josh (pictured) and Maria and headed by JT are there to ensure that the purchase is as quick as possible providing you with more time to congregate around the tables discussing the first act or perusing our past productions or current artist displays.
If you don’t have time to finish your drink when the lights are flashing signalling your return to your seats and the commencement of Act 2, don’t fret, you can bring your drinks into the auditorium and there are cup holders provided in front of you.
JT tells me that 72 bottle of white wine and an additional 72 bottles of red wine are consumed during each show run. In addition, 120 cans of beers and hundreds of soft drinks are also purchased. A new wine offered this year Casillero del Diablo, a Cabernet Sauvignon is truly excellent and has received rave reviews from our patrons. The bar offers 4 different wines and 3 local craft beers as options.
As all good bartenders, JT has his hidden advice, one of which being that the premium scotch which sells for only a fraction more than the other offering is way better. It’s not just a cash grab as that in fact the OLT offers the lowest theatre bar prices in town.
Good news for all you chocolate lovers. Stubbe chocolates, after being absent last season due to their move from the Byward Market, is back offering all your sweet favourites.
Proceeds from the sale of refreshments go towards the OLT operations costs.
New this year is a trial second micro bar which should decrease lineup and wait times during intermission. Drinks that are pre-ordered prior to the first act pre-show, can be picked up at this bar thus avoiding queuing with those patrons ordering and paying only at intermission. The new micro bar is at the other end of the upper lobby with signs clearly indicating its location. The micro bar will also be selling wine and cold beer.
If you have any suggestions, contact JT, he and his team are always happy to hear from you.
